Hanssen Consulting, LLC was established in 2003 and has enjoyed steady growth since that time. We concentrate on providing specialized Program Evaluation services to help organizations improve performance.

Principals

Carl Hanssen, Ph.D.Carl is the co-founder and driving force behind Hanssen Consulting. He started his career in 1991 at The Evaluation Center at Western Michigan University where he managed large, multi-year projects for national foundations. In 1996, he accepted a position at The Andersen Worldwide Center for Professional Education in St. Charles, IL where he quickly learned the in’s and out’s of evaluation in a consulting and corporate world. In 2003, Carl returned to Michigan and The Evaluation Center to complete his Doctorate in Evaluation, Measurement, and Research, which he completed in 2004.

During his career as an evaluator, Carl has participated in over 100 different projects in a variety of industries. This experience includes multi-year studies for private foundations, large federal government grant programs, a diverse group of survey research and data collection efforts for businesses, and evaluation of training programs, curricula, and business processes in corporate settings.

One of Carl’s strengths as an evaluator is his ability to communicate complex ideas in understandable and usable language. As a facilitator, presenter, and instructor, Carl is adept at making sure his audience understands the task at hand. He is a regular presenter at professional conferences and has co-authored several articles on evaluation use, methods, and applications.


Amy Marks Hanssen

Amy Marks Hanssen

Amy excels at managing and designing instructionally sound products that provide learners with critical information at their point of need in an engaging way. Her project management experience includes creating work plans, managing and budgeting time to meet project deadlines, ongoing monitoring of project progress and strong communication skills. Her design experience includes designing both instructor-led and eLearning courses. Her work on eLearning courses has focused on Nano learnings and larger web-based products that meet NASBA standards for CPE. She ensures client objectives are met and learners acquire the knowledge they need for optimum job performance.

Prior to starting Hanssen Consulting, Amy spent four years with Arthur Andersen. She started her career as a Staff Technology consultant and was then promoted to a Senior Technology Consultant. In this role, Amy was the lead instructional designer for a firm-wide course, Independence and Ethical Standards. She also provided instructional design expertise for instructor-led courses and several large performance support tools. In addition, she led usability testing efforts for several firm delivered courses and performance support tools. These usability tests entailed creating a project work plan, extensive structured interviewing, observation, data management and recommendations for course or tool improvement. In addition to these roles, Amy acted as a marketing representative in demonstrating internally developed products for both internal and external clients.

Amy earned a Bachelor’s degree in Secondary Education and Psychology from Western Michigan University. She graduated Magna Cum Laude and is a member of the Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society and the Golden Key National Honor Society.
